This post announces STAC GIS 1.0, the first stable release of the platform — scheduled for October 2026.
STAC GIS is an open-source, AI-powered geospatial platform. For 1.0 we are shipping the three components as one coherent, self-hostable stack: a STAC-compliant core, a reusable geospatial AI agent harness, and a polished STAC catalog — all working together, and all free to run on your own infrastructure.
